DONATE HERE TO THE NEXT SURGICAL CAMP

The Muridjo region in Northern Laikipia of Kenya has a pastoral nomadic community of approximately 10,000 Samburu people.

The Samburu live in manyattas, which are homesteads comprising of a family group. This consists of the family head, his wives and their children, grandchildren and their livestock.

Inside a protective circular perimeter of thorned branches, the houses surround the livestock which are kept in the centre at night for protection.

The Samburu lifestyle makes them vulnerable to blindness from trachoma. The Ol Malo Eye Project aims to eradicate trachoma whilst preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Samburu.
